Valente v. Defendant

The Plaintiff had a successful dental practice in a Boston suburb. He decided to sell the practice and found a buyer through a business broker who specialized in dental practices. He hired an attorney to negotiate terms and assist in the sale. The Plaintiff took back a loan and agreed to remain as an employee for a period after the sale. The buyer withheld payments, and the Plaintiff sued. The claims were resolved, but on terms unfavorable to the seller and after payment of substantial attorney's fees. Keith L. Miller brought an action in Norfolk Superior Court against the attorney, alleging that the sales documents failed to properly protect the Plaintiff's interests. The case settled on the second day of a jury trial for a six figure amount.
